Got Picky Eaters? Make it Picky Food!

If you have kids that are picky eaters it is always hard trying to get them to eat new things.

In fact sometimes even old things! Here is a handy little tip that just might help out with this problem.

The next time that you make a meal, try finding some decorative toothpicks or party picks that are shaped like animals, swords, or even just colored toothpicks.

Cut up all of the food on their plate and serve with a variety of picks.

They will have so much fun deciding which pick to use that they will eat their dinner in no time!

Easy Egg Breakfast

For a quick and easy breakfast for your family, try Eggs in a nest. They are super simple to make and your family will love them.

Preheat a skillet to medium heat. Take as many slices of bread as you have people and lightly butter each side. Using a cookie cutter, cut out the center of the bread.

Place the cut out and the frame into the skillet. Crack an egg into the center of each piece of bread. Let cook until the bottom of the egg is all white at least 1/4 of the depth of the egg.

Flip both pieces over and cook another 3-5 minutes until egg is cooked to your liking.

If you pan is too hot, your egg will not cook all the way through before the bread is browned all the way through.

Sticky Sandwiches

Having a hard time getting your kids to eat their lunch? Try this little twist for something different.

Have the deli at your local market slice your kids favorite lunch meats and cheese into 1/2 to 3/4 inch slices.

When you get home, using canapé cutters, cut out different shapes and sizes from the meat and cheese as well as some bread.

Grab a couple of bamboo skewers and layer the bread, meat, cheese and some fresh vegetables.

When you serve them, place a small bowl of your kids favorite condiments on the side as a dipping sauce.

Hot Lunches

You have some wide mouthed insulated containers that you use for soup for lunches, but you can't always think of a soup to put in it.

Why limit the choices to soup? I will make up a can of the current favorite spaghetti or ravioli and place in the container. I will reserve any leftovers for a later date.

Want something different?

Place some rice in the container with your favorite topping.

How about some home made spaghetti or alfredo?

The options are endless for a not so boring lunch!

BBQ On the Go

Your kids are in Baseball, Soccer, Football, Tennis… You name it, there is always an activity going on.

It is hard to have everyone sit down for dinner at the same time. You have tried just about everything, but you just can't seem to get dinner ready by the time that you have to take off for a game/activity.

Instead, take dinner with you! Get a small portable grill and pack a basket that has all of the condiments that you need for hamburgers or hot dogs.

Make up some potato salad, or grab some from the store if you run out of time. Don't forget some chips and buns, as well as something to drink.

Now when you arrive at your child's game, set up a mini barbeque for you and your family. Now you can all eat together and enjoy the activities that your family participates in!

Mini Sandwiches

Do you get tired of making up a great big sandwich and having your toddler eat about 1/4 of it before saying that they are done?

I am not sure to this day how many partial sandwiches that I have thrown away.

I found this little tip to be very helpful!

Most stores carry mini loaves of bread that are used for making appetizers and cocktail sandwiches.

Pick up a loaf and now you have the perfect sized sandwich bread for your toddler.
