Christmas is almost here, but your tree is looking not quite so fresh. Needles and dropping and boughs are bending. How can you make it look better for Christmas!

In a large container combine a gallon of warm water, 1 can of lemon/lime flavored soda and 1 teaspoon of bleach. Measure the diameter of the stem of your tree and use 1 quart of water per inch to water your tree.

The warm water will soften up the sap a little, allowing more water to get to the tree. The sugar in the soda will be carried up to the tree and branches, and it will nourish the tree and help it to revive a bit. The bleach just cuts down on pesky bacteria that might form in the water.

You can refresh your pumpkins by soaking them in a large container of water for a few hours. If you see a tiny bit of mold, add a drop or two of bleach to the water.

They should refresh nicely if you soak them before they get too bad.

With congestion, fever, or other symptoms, pillows can get soiled very quickly. To help preserve my pillows and keep from having to wash them each day is making a pillowcase from old towels.

The towels are more absorbent and each morning you can just toss in the wash to clean out any germs.

Fall is here and there are coats everywhere! How can you keep them all organized with a tiny hall closet?

I solved some of the problems by installing a coat rack, there is a hook for each person in the house. All coats that are most commonly worn go on the rack.

Now, thin out the coat closet and only place 2 seasonal coats into the closet for each person. All remaining coats can go into each person’s bedroom closet.

As seasons change, you can swap out the coats, putting the warmer ones away and pulling out the lighter weight.

You are doing laundry and some of your towels are not quite to fresh anymore. I like to repurpose towels when they get a little wore out.

Some I leave whole and place out in the garage, now when my daughter plays in the sprinkler she can grab one to dry off if she forget’s to grab one from the house.

I can cut them up into pieces and leave in the garage or laundry room for jobs that are too messy for regular rags and can be easily thrown away.

If I am working out in the garden I can grab one and use it to clean off muddy tools.

All is not lost, you can still save it! Rinse out the mug and fill it with warm water. Now just drop in a denture tablet and walk away. After it has soaked for a few hours, you should be able to wash away the odor and the stains easily.

Go in the kitchen and grab a can of cooking spray. After you have thoroughly cleaned the box, spray it down with a bit of the cooking spray. Use a paper towel to make sure that they spray is spread evenly all over the inside of the tray.

Now just pour in the litter and the next time that you clean it all of the pieces should tap right out.

You have a scratchy sore throat and nothing seems to be helping. This is a sweet treat that you can try to help calm things down a bit.

Grab a small package of Jello and prepare it according to the directions. Don’t refrigerate it, instead pour some into a mug and place in the microwave and cook for about 30 seconds. Add a tablespoon of honey and stir well to blend.

Now just sip away. The gelatin will help to coat your throat and the honey’s antibacterial qualities will help kill some bacteria.

Cut down the pieces of wallpaper to fit into drawers around the house. Now you will not only protect items from a rough surface, but whenever you look into the drawer you will see your favorite print!

Wash out the containers thoroughly, they are the perfect size to hold 1 cup of whatever you need to freeze. Just write on the lid with a permanent marker and pop in the freezer.

Most containers you will not be able to reheat in, so let defrost for a bit before putting the content into a bowl or pan for re-heating.
